Maker Labs

On a rainy day fieldtrip, my class ventured out to the Maker Labs on Kingsway in Vancouver. Maker Labs is “a makerspace that provides you with the tools, space, and skills to bring ideas to life.” They have tools you can use as well as classes you can register in. The tools they offer are: laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, plotters, various woodshop tools, an electronic lab, 3D scanners, various software, photography and multiple machines for soft goods. They offer various classes on how to use the tools and to make specific projects. Some classes are: 3D Scanning 101, Laser 101-Intro, Leather 101-Intro Wallet, and Casting & Mould-Making Demo. We were toured around the huge space by an Emily Carr graduate. It was very cool and exciting to see what other people were making. (I don’t have any photographs to share because my camera crashed that day)
